Audible, Hear That?

October is National Audiology Awareness Month. Annually, the American Academy of Audiology raises awareness across their social channels and official website, highlighting the negative impacts of hearing loss and its association with social isolation, depression, and cognitive decline.

Statistics uncover the magnitude of this silent epidemic. With 1 in 7 people experiencing some degree of hearing loss, and the average person using an OTC hearing aid device waiting on average 13 years from the onset of their hearing deficiency before taking action.

Audible’s participation in amplifying this awareness play, cleverly leverages in-app fixed volume settings, encouraging users to “listen in” on their hearing health when tuning into their audiobook libraries.

Insight: Hearing loss has a subjective perception, as its deficiencies can be less apparent when compared to our other senses.

Big Idea: Challenge Audible subscribers to tune into their favourite audiobooks, with one caveat, fixed volume settings; encouraging users to “listen in” on their hearing health.
